Dry Refurbishment

UK Diveworks were approached by our client Freedom Leisure to assist with a resolution to three swimming pools within one of their leisure centres that unfortunately had a lining failure. The liner was installed less than 12 months previously, but had bubbled and failed due to debonding issues.

UK Diveworks Managing Director Andrew Wilkins attended site and discussed the options available to our client. Information was shared about the existing structure, the existing usage of the pool and also the installation of the liner which had failed. Upon the fact find being completed, it was deemed that the most cost effective and guaranteed way to remedy the issues for our client would be to complete a full pool strip out including the remaining lining and mosaic tiling beneath. Surface preparation would be completed and new tanking installed to the surfaces of all wet areas. A vitrified tile would then be selected specific for swimming pool installation and installed using swimming pool graded products.

After assigning a dedicated Project Manager and submitting our proposals in writing and supplying all data sheets and COSHH assessments, along with costings for the works, UK Diveworks received the works order to begin the refurbishment works.

A time frame was agreed of ten weeks from start to finish and works commenced within ten days of receiving the works order.

Our dedicated swimming pool refurbishment team stripped the 600sqm pool tank along with the poolside handgrip tiles and backing tiles up to the overflow channels.

Our surface preparation team then followed and completed the smoothing of all surfaces before installing the waterproof tanking system supplied by Ardex.

Upon completion of the tanking installation, the professional pool tiling team then set to work to make the pool look amazing again.

All works were completed on time and within budget. A third party cleaning company was engaged to complete a full deep clean of the pool tanks and poolside surrounds before handover took place and the re-fill of the pool began.
