Project - Shere Community Pool Dry Refurbishment

Workscope:

  • Full dry refurbishment to pool tank including new sump drain installation, concrete pour to decrease depth level to deep end, pipework installation from pool plant room to pool tank, tanking install, tile install.
  • Poolside walk way re-laid with paving slabs
  • New ladder installation
  • Diversion of water from pool tank to allow for works to be completed (Pool was situated next to a river and had water ingress into the pool which had to be diverted to external of the pool tank.)

UK Diveworks completed a full pool tank refurbishment programme within Shere Community outdoor pool. UK Diveworks were approached by a returning client who required a full pool tank strip out to one of the oldest outdoor lido pools in the country.

Mobilising all equipment and materials to site, we set to work and began with the removal of paving slabs to allow for a new circulation system to be laid through the surround of the pool. Trenches were dug and new pipework installed. Core holes were drilled for the new pipework to enter the pool.

While the circulation system pipework was being installed, a second team began to remove the existing render and screed from the tank. This was all defective and required full removal and replacement to allow for a tiled finish to be installed.

Further to these works, a third team was located to the deep end of the pool and began the removal of the old sump drain, cut a new "t'd" channel for two new sump drains, installed a reinforcement cage to the flat of the deep end that was secured with chemical anchor and completed a diversion trench with pump for de-watering purposes.

Once the strip out, reinforcement works, sump drain installations and circulation pipework were completed, a concrete pour was completed to the deep end to raise the depth level by 400mm. A further concrete pour was completed to the shallow end as it was requested that this was also removed and reinstalled due to further defects found whilst stripping the pool.

Tanking works commenced after this, using swimming pool graded products. Swimming pool tiles were installed along with lane markings once the tanking had cured as per the manufacturers recommendations.

New ladders were installed to the pool walls.

This swimming pool has now been brought back up to a high standard and will serve the school for many years to come.
